Prix Renaudot

The Prix Théophraste Renaudot (short: Prix Renaudot ) is one of the five major French literary prizes.

The winner is awarded annually - first Tuesday in November - announced at the Paris restaurant Drouant the same day as the winner of the Prix Goncourt. It will be in advance of the ten members of the jury - consisting of literary critics - always two possible winners selected (for the case that one of the two plants has already won the Prix Goncourt ).

The jury of the Prix Renaudot is in no way a function of the Académie Goncourt. Therefore, the Prix Renaudot is also seen as balancing complement to the Prix Goncourt.

The prize is awarded since 1926 and is named after the founder of modern journalism in France Théophraste Renaudot ( 1586-1653 ).

Most of the works that have been awarded the Prix Renaudot, have also been translated into German ( indicated in each case the German edition ).
