Professor X the Overseer

Lumumba Robert Carson, Artist name: Professor X, (* August 4, 1956, † March 17, 2006 in Brooklyn, New York City ) was an American rap musician and member of the band X - Clan.

Carson was the son of civil rights activist Sonny Carson. He became known for his catchy lyrics and socially critical lyrics. In contrast to the band Public Enemy, which also earned during the same period with the conscious rap celebrity, X - Clan never had the same commercial success. While Public Enemy continued to pursue confrontational, suggested Professor X also conciliatory tones that were equally savored by a white audience. His band also differed in the dress code of other hip hop groups: one dressed preferably African. X - Clan produced two albums, To the East, Black Ward (1990) and Xodus (1992 ), the campaigning for the Black Power movement. As a solo artist, he produced the album 1991 Years of the 9: On the Black Hand Side and 1993 Puss' N Boots ( The Struggle Continues ). With the rise of gangsta rap in the 1990s lost political hip-hop groups like X- Clan increasing influence.

Carson was in addition to his musical activities also an active member and co-founder of the Black Muslim civil rights organization Black Watch. Lumumba Carson was infected with meningitis and died on 17 March 2006; He left behind two sons.
