Progress and Development

Kidma wePituach (Hebrew קידמה ופיתוח, progress and development ) was a political party in Israel, who was elected in 1959 for the first time in the Knesset and disbanded on March 8, 1977.

History

The party was an Israeli- Arab party, which was associated with David Ben -Gurion, Mapai. In the elections on 3 November 1959, the party won 1.3% of the votes and two seats, MPs were Ahmed A- Dahar and Elias Nakhleh. Since they were associated with Mapai, they also formed part of the government coalition. In the elections on 15 August 1961, the party won 1.6% of the vote and was part of all three coalition governments during the fifth parliamentary term. In the elections on November 1, 1965, the party won 1.9 % of the vote and participated in the government coalition under Levi Eshkol. In the elections on 28 October 1969, the party won 2.1% of the vote and was involved in the coalition government under Golda Meir. In the elections on 31 December 1973, the party won 1.4 % of the vote and had to disband on March 8, 1977.
