Progressive segmented Frame ( PsF ) is a video format that stores a fullscreen as fields.

Each frame is broken down into the two fields without Phasenverschub of each line within a field ( segmented). So can be sent from the interlaced fields by Weaving the original frames to reconstruct completely and without loss, without any interpolation needs to be performed or the typical interlacing comb effect occurs.

The HDTV format 1080i50 is then transmitted in PsF processes when [ progressive ] images with 25 frames per second is present and is being sent. That is, for example, with movies of the case that have been changed by PAL speed -up method (acceleration of image and sound and, consequently, an increase of the latter ), or, if the original material from 25 frames per second is - as with Antichrist or Melancholia, both were shot with 25fps (apart from a few shots with high-speed cameras ). The result then corresponds to the 1080p25 format. The HDTV display must be the case, however, "understand" that it is the photographic material is PsF material and between the fields no temporal or spatial ( of spatial ) offset ( when panning and the like ) is available and of two fields, a may be assembled frame. It may be present in the screen deinterlacing algorithms must be disabled. This distinction of interlaced over progressive segmented frame material must be recognized as such by HD receivers or HD - capable television sets, so 1080i50 material can be converted and displayed without deinterlacing processing by the algorithms in 1080p25.
