Prohibited airspace

An air exclusion zone ( engl. prohibited area) is a fixed air space over the territory of a State shall be prohibited in the flights of aircraft.

Air spaces in which flights are subject only to certain restrictions are temporarily or permanently, on the other hand referred to as restricted areas.

Basics

Air restricted areas have defined vertical and horizontal dimensions. In addition to the spatial extent have air restricted areas on a temporal effectiveness. You can be active by NOTAM continuous or only on certain days and at set times or only after prior notice. The vertical extent can also be varied in individual cases by NOTAM. Air restricted areas are published in the AIP and on aeronautical charts (especially ICAO cards) displayed graphically. These areas are characterized by the ICAO country code and the letter " P" ( for eng. Prohibited ) and an atomic number. For example, is LI- P243 for the Italian air exclusion zone Roma ( Città del Vaticano ).

Situation in Germany

The German Air Traffic Act allows air restricted areas, but this possibility is not currently used. The test-flight in an air exclusion zone would be sanctioned in Germany with a fine or imprisonment for up two years.
