Project 621 (rocket)

With a 621 project at the beginning of the 1960s planned by Dornier project is called, which provided for the development of a returning to Rogallo wings sounding rocket.

The rocket project 621 should reach a peak altitude of 80 km and return from a height of 40 km in the spirals to the ground, where even all the rules of air traffic control should be adhered to, so that use of the rocket project 621 should even be possible in the inland.

During May, 1963, the concept as a Dornier Do 122 was obtained from Dr. W. Kiesling presented at the European Space Flight Symposium in Stuttgart.

The project 621 was set in 1969, when there were big problems because of the choice of a suitable leaf material (textile wings were not up to the stresses wing stainless steel mesh were wrinkle- sensitive ), although there was in 1965 a drop test on the missile test site in Salto di Quirra.
