Promised Land (2012 film)

Promised Land is an American film drama from 2012. Was directed by Gus Van Sant, the template for screenplay was written by Dave Eggers. The main roles were Matt Damon, Frances McDormand and John Krasinski.

The film deals with the controversial issue of fracking and its impact on the environment and humans.

Action

Steve Butler is a leading proponent of Global Cross Power Solutions, a company that has specialized for the promotion of underground natural gas held. Together with his colleague Sue Thomason he should buy as many mineral rights in a hard-hit by the economic crisis region in Pennsylvania. Believing in a slight order they are on their way. Many properties are quickly purchased due to the lack of perspective of the owners. But in a village, they meet resistance, led by the teacher and former engineer Frank Yates. In a discussion of attempts to alert the community to the dangers of fracking. To the surprise Butlers the community stands behind Yates. So now have to scour all the houses individually to retune the residents Butler and Thomason. But they have not reckoned with the pride of the inhabitants. The contract will be for the ordeal. To make matters worse receives Yates also support an environmentalist named Dustin Noble. This can not be rid of corruption and convinced the people of the dangers. In the last scene we see how Butler with packed suitcases finds inlet at the home of Alice teacher, with whom he had previously befriended more and more.

Background

The Director was originally Matt Damon lead itself, due to lack of time, however, he gave the director to his friend Gus Van Sant on and took over the lead role instead.

Production costs amounted to approximately 15 million U.S. dollars.
