Promises (group)

Promises was a pop group, founded in Thousand Oaks, California. It consisted of the three siblings Leslie Maria Knauer ( born August 20, 1957 in Vancouver, vocals), Jed Knauer ( born July 17, 1955 in Toronto, guitar, piano ) and Benny (Benjamin) Knauer ( born October 21, 1958 in Vancouver Keyboards ). Her father, Peter Knauer, was born in Hamburg and moved in the late 1960s with his children from Canada to California. He was the manager of the group and played keyboards. In February 1979, they had their only major hit with the single " Baby it's you ." The song debuted at number 4 on the German charts at number 11 in Switzerland and # 20 in the Netherlands. In Australia and New Zealand, it landed on the first place. It sold 250.000 copies, reaching gold status. The captured from the Californian producer Steve Verroca album "Promises " was also quite successful. The second single, " Let's get back together" but finished only 18th place in the German charts.

Leslie Knauer ( Knauer later water) was later a member of the groups Precious Metal and Kanary and sang two songs for the Dennis Hopper movie " Choke".
