Pronator teres muscle

The pronator teres ( Latin for " round Einwärtsdreher ") is a skeletal muscle. It extends on the front side (the one on the palm of the hand is located ) of the forearm. It rises to the humerus and ulna and pulls to the outside surface of the spoke. Under the muscle pull through the brachial artery and vein. The median nerve ( ramus muscularis ) breaks through this muscle. The radial artery is above and the ulnar artery under him.

Function

The pronator teres is, as its name implies, together with the pronator quadratus responsible for the pronation of the forearm.

In ungulates the muscle is purely stringy, because with them anyway radius and ulna are immovably fused together, pronation is therefore impossible.

Innervation

The pronator teres is innervated by the median nerve.
