Propanidid is a Eugenolester of clove oil.

Properties

Propanidid was applied with Cremophor EL as a solubilizer for intravenous short anesthesia. 1962, was patented by Bayer in 1965 and approved for clinical use. It spread quickly in the body and caused a pleasant sleep and rapid awakening after a few minutes. It was therefore for short surgical procedures (such Einrenkungen ) well suited.
