ProRes
ProRes is an Apple-designed HD -enabled intra-frame video codec. The goal of ProRes is to provide high quality and with little processing complexity (compared to uncompressed video ) low data rates. The field of application of ProRes is the video editing in post-production ( Intermediate Codec ). A ProRes data stream is typically packaged in a. Mov container.
Area of application
The video editing software Final Cut Pro Apple ProRes used since 2007. Here, Apple recommends that computationally intensive video formats (eg, H.264/AVC ) and video formats with high data rates (eg, uncompressed formats) to convert before editing in ProRes.
Products
ProRes is installed in the form of a QuickTime component. After installation, you can access it that use the QuickTime framework in principle all programs. The ProRes codecs have long been supplied only in conjunction with the software package Final Cut Studio. ProRes variants
ProRes support different data rates and a freely adjustable resolution. All ProRes422 variants use a color sub-sampling of 4:2:2 at 10 bit color depth. ProRes 4444 scans color contrast in the schema 4:4:4 with a color depth of 12 bits from time and can store an alpha channel of up to 16 bits per pixel.
