Prosopography of Anglo-Saxon England

The Prosopography of Anglo - Saxon England ( PASE ) is an online database of the Department of History and Centre for Computing in the Humanities (CCH ) at King's College London and the Department of Anglo - Saxon, Norse and Celtic, University of Cambridge is operated. The project is scientifically supervised by Prof. Janet L. Nelson and Prof. Simon Keynes. It was from 2000 to 2004 funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Board and from 2005 to 2008 by the Arts and Humanities Research Council ( AHRC ).

The aim of the database is to present structured biographical and genealogical data of all persons mentioned by name the early medieval history of England. A first phase, which went online in 2005, covered the period 597-1042. A second, published in December 2009 step, the data set to English, has been expanded mentioned in the Domesday Book landowners and also sources from the 11th and 12th centuries acquired. In August 2010, improved query options have been created by an additional new interface. On further expansion is in progress. Access to the database is possible free of charge and without registration.
