Prosper is a city in Collin County and Denton County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in northeastern Texas on Highway 289, is located in the north about 70 miles from Oklahoma and has a total area of 12.8 km ² without significant water surface.

History

The town was founded founded in 1902 as a railway station on the St. Louis, San Francisco and Texas Railway.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 2,097 people in 678 households and 589 families. The population density was 163.6 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 92.23 % White, 0.29 % African American, 0.62 % Native American, 0.38 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 5.15 % from other ethnic groups.
