Geographical Location

Prosselsheim is located 18 km northeast of Würzburg in Würzburg region.

Community structure

  • Prosselsheim
  • Püssensheim
  • Blessed city

There are the districts Prosselsheim, Püssensheim and Blessed city.

History

Traces of settlement have been around from the Neolithic period. Prosselsheim was first mentioned in 742. The former top official of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg, to which it belonged since 903, from 1500 was part of the Frankish kingdom circle. It was ceded to the secularisation of 1803 in Bavaria's favor in 1805, Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg and fell with this 1814 final at Bayern. Since the Administrative Reform, which came into force on 1 July 1972 the municipality belongs to the district of Würzburg.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1971 the then independent municipality Püssensheim ( Kitzingen ) was incorporated.

Population Development

In 2006 there were 21 births for 1218 inhabitants. Thus, the birth rate was 17.2 births per with over 1,000 inhabitants ( according to Lohkirchen ) the second highest in Bavaria.
