Protaspis
Protaspis is a genus of heterotrophic flagellates from the group of Cercomonadida.
Features
The cell body has a fixed shape, the two non- beating, unequal length flagella to put subapical on the ventral side of the cell. The cells are flattened dorsoventral, on the ventral side, there is a pit. The pseudopodia are formed from this pit out, serve the food. The nucleus often has a cell cap.
Nutrition
Feeding takes phagotroph with the help of pseudopodia. Protaspis verrucosa is able to catch small cells of Goldmonaden and Bodoniden.
