National Parks Nature parks
There are eight national parks in Croatia and eleven other protected areas (natural parks). Each National Park is managed separately and is subject to state supervision of the Ministry of Nature Protection and spatial development.
A total of 4464.25 km2 of the area of Croatia are protected. This accounts for about 5% of the Croatian state territory.

The eight national parks
Three national parks are located on islands ( Kornati, Brijuni and Mljet ). Two national parks are located in the Karst ( Plitvice lakes and Krka waterfalls). Two more are in the Velebit mountain range and in addition to fascinating karst landscapes and diverse flora and fauna ( North Velebit and Paklenica ).

Protected nature reserves
- The Rocks Resort in Bijela and Samarske Kapela massif
- The Rožanski kuk kuk and Rozanski in the Velebit massif
These areas are even stricter protected as national parks - in you no human intervention is allowed, which affect the natural development.
