Prothorax

The prothorax is the foremost segment of the chest area (thorax) of insects. It is followed by the meso - and metathorax. All thoracic segments of insects each carry a pair of legs. When prothorax, these are the front legs. The prothorax bears in all living today ( recent ) Insect no wings, unlike the other two segments.

Example of limbs of the prothorax:
