Protocell

A Protobiont is a hypothetical precursor of ( unicellular ) life. It consists of a Nukleotidmembran, abiotically formed proteins and nucleic acids, as well as a simple apparatus for energy and for transmitting information. Due to the nature of the Earth 4 billion years ago the archetypal organism must anaerobic, have been hyperthermophilic, halophilic and chemolithoautotrophically.

We call this probable stage of development of the origin of life as part of the RNA world. Presumably there was an inclusion of peptides, polynucleotides, perhaps even entire hypercycles within a membrane. This reciprocal metabolic reactions were possible. In further evolutionary steps, the DNA was the information carrier and the RNA took over the mediator between DNA and protein. It gradually developed the Protocyte.

Sidney W. Fox and Alexander Ivanovich Oparin conducted experiments that proved the possibility of a spontaneous synthesis of car protobionts once in the primordial soup certain elements were included.
