Security

The Exora reached 4 of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test after 32 Exoras in Applus IDIADA grounds were crashed in Spain. In addition, the Exora also got 4 of 5 stars in the Malayan MyVAP - test program. One of the reasons for the good results is the use of high tensile steel for the body frame, which ensures greater stability and better occupant protection in case of accidents. In addition, a side impact protection is incorporated.

Other safety features are ABS and EDB. Two airbags and pretensioners are installed on the two front seats.

Competition for naming

Proton announced a contest for finding a name for the new minivan, which was called Proton MPV Naming Contest. It ended on 30 September 2008. This was the second time (after the saga ), the proton organized such a competition.

The result was announced on 17 February 2009. The name " Exora " had been selected from 251 763 proposals; Winner was Norsholihan bt Abdul Eanich. He got the first Exora, which rolled off the assembly lines.

A much-discussed rule of this contest was that the name was not allowed to come from the animal or vegetable kingdom, but the winning proposal Exora reminiscent of the flower Ixora. Proton subsequently clarified that the word Exora only the flower Ixora was similar, but no animal or plant names represented and therefore was admissible.
