Providentia

Providentia was a Roman goddess who is known in two -fold importance only from inscriptions or coins forth. She is the embodiment of prevailing on the emperor divine providence and care of the ruler or the emperor for Rome and for the Romans.

As a female character, she was pictured on the back of Roman coins with scepter and a directional earth wand. In Vienna is on the Neuer Markt, a Providentia, which is popularly known Donnerbrunnen. In the picture The Great Triumphal Chariot of Albrecht Dürer Providentia next Moderatio, the personification of temperance is shown.
