Pruchten

Pruchten is a municipality in the west of the district Vorpommern - Rügen. It lies north of Barth. Until 1 January 2005, the municipality was part of the Office Barth country and has since been part of the Office Barth.

Geography and transport

The place Pruchten - consisting of the districts Pruchten and Bresewitz - located about 2-4 kilometers north of Barth in the northernmost tip of the Office Barth. The community is located between the current and the Barth Barth Bodden to the east and the west Bodstedter Bodden at the transition from the mainland to the peninsula Zingst. Part of the municipality is part of the National Park Boddenlandscape. By Pruchten and Bresewitz the road 21 leads from Barth to Zingst. In the northern part of the Meiningenbrücke bridge crosses the Meiningenbrücke electricity to the peninsula Zingst. Until the Second World War led through the village and the Darßbahn to Zingst and Prerow. This was dismantled after the Second World War. The tracks to the hamlet Bresewitz were laid in the 1960s and used again until 1990, when marshalling yard of the National People's Army.

Districts

  • Bresewitz: The district Bresewitz is about 2 km north of Pruchten on a peninsula before Zingst. The incorporation of Bresewitz after Pruchten in 1974 on government instructions of the GDR.
  • Pruchten: The district is located south of Pruchten Bresewitz on the mainland about 2.5 km north-west from the city Barth.

History

Pruchten was first mentioned in 1278 and Bresewitz the first time in 1302 in a document. Both places are of Slavic origin. The places suffered greatly during the Thirty Years' War. With the Peace of Westphalia of 1648 came Vorpommern and thus also the places Pruchten and Bresewitz ( Preschewitz ) under Swedish rule. 1815 Municipalities and Pomerania came to the Prussian province of Pomerania. 1910, the railway line from Barth to Prerow opened with stations in Pruchten and Bresewitz. Before, only a ferry from Bresewitz to Zingst ( Timmenort ) over the shallow waters Fitt.

The communities Pruchten and Bresewitz were until 1952 part of the district Pommern -Barth and included after the incorporation of Bresewitz after Pruchten to 1994 to the circle Ribnitz Damgarten in the district of Rostock. Since 1994 Pruchten belonged to the district of North Western Pomerania, since 2011 the district of Vorpommern - Rügen in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern.

Built In GDR times, and entertained the people Stralsund an operating summer camp for the children of their staff operating.

Attractions

  • Boddenküste: The territory of Pruchten and Bresewitz is in the north, west and east by the lagoon of the Baltic Sea, limits the local lagoons. These flat waters are mainly part of the National Park Boddenlandscape. In addition to the ecological importance they are important for the fishing and marine tourism in the region.
  • Meiningen Bridge: The bridge with a length of about 470 meters was inaugurated in 1910. The riveted steel structure crosses the waters Meiningen in the north between Bresewitz and the Zingst. The original single track built for the railway and road bridge was temporarily relieved by the construction of a west and parallel to it located replacement bridge for road traffic.
  • Station Bresewitz: The former railway station Bresewitz with tourist train operating cars and a Darßbahnausstellung
  • From locations Bresewitz the annual train of the cranes in the spring and especially in autumn to the sleeping places on the protection of birds and islands Kirr Barth Oie and to the feeding grounds on the mainland can be observed.
