Prymorsk

Prymorsk (Ukrainian Приморськ; Russian Приморск / Primorsk ) is a city in the Zaporizhia Oblast Ukrainian with 12,000 inhabitants ( 2013). Prymorsk is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

Geography

Prymorsk located south of the Zaporizhia Oblast 180 km southeast from Oblastzentrum Zaporizhia on the banks of the river Obytitschna (Ukrainian Обитічна ) and three kilometers from the Sea of ​​Azov. The city is located on the highway, about 80 km Melitopol and Berdyansk 40 km can be reached.

History

Founded in 1800 and the place was named Obitotschne (Ukrainian Обіточне ). 1817 began, on behalf of the Governor General of New Russia Duke of Richelieu, with the construction of a harbor at the mouth of Obytitschna. As it was found that the location was poorly chosen for the port, put one a work and built the port in Berdyansk. In celebration of the victory over Napoleon in the Russian campaign in 1812 one was built in 1813, the Orthodox Church of the " Holy Trinity ".

In 1821 the village was renamed Nohaisk (Ukrainian Ногайськ ) after living here members of the ethnic group of the Nogai and carried that name until 1964, only to get its present name. 1835 was the settlement of 2,927 and 3,248 inhabitants in 1861. In 1896, the village the status of a city.
