Przevalski's Partridge

The Przewalski's Rock Partridge ( Alectoris magna ) is a species of bird in the pheasant family -like ( Phasianidae ), which belongs to the order of Galliformes ( Galliformes ).

Description

In its appearance, the Przewalski's Rock Partridge is largely identical to the Chukar. It differs from it by a black stripe that runs from the beak base on the eyes as well as by a lack of black chin spot. Due to the similarity with the chukar it was considered for a long time even as a subspecies of it.

The Przewalski's Rock Partridge is native to China. It is present there in Bergslagen 2400-2700 meters. It inhabits preferred steep slopes, which are populated with grass and low bushes.
