Psalm 12

The 12th Psalm is a Psalm of David. Its genus is unclear. But it will mostly be classified as belonging to the liturgy.

Genus

The genus of the Psalm is unclear. Jörg Jeremias sees him best as the " prophetic action liturgy " belonging to. Hermann Gunkel also names the psalm as " liturgy ". " Liturgy " means here that the intention of the performance with changing voices consisted in the worship service.

Structure

Gunkel divides the psalm as follows:

  • Verse 2f. According to recently call for help, the lawsuit that falsehood prevails
  • Verse 4f. Desire YHWH may intervene
  • Verse 6 consolation that YHWH's salvation now appears
  • Verse 7-9: Response of the church: Praise Yahweh's word
