Psalm 124

The 124th Psalm ( Greek- count of 123 ) is a Psalm of David, and belongs to the series of songs of thanksgiving Israel.

The Old Testament scholar Hermann Gunkel divided the psalm as follows:

Justus Olshausen believed in the Psalm, a song of thanks to the restoration of independence by the Maccabean struggle.

Assessment

Hermann Gunkel rated Psalm negative. He writes in his commentary on the Psalms:

" [ ... ] But has the song so little given substance - it is content from" "to talk, who threatened Israel - that we are not able to say whether it [ ... ] therefore represents only an imitation of such public songs of thanksgiving " people
