Psalm 39

The 39th Psalm ( Greek- count of 38 ) is a psalm of David in the Bible. He is the kind of individual Lamentations belonging.

Structure

The Old Testament scholar Hermann Gunkel notes in his standard work " The Psalms " first for structuring the verses: the twelfth verse moves between the seventh and the eighth, during the thirteenth verse - in twists to 13CD and then 13ab - between the eighth and the ninth disengaged. Then he structured the psalm in the following way:

Tradition of interpretation

The tradition of interpretation starts from a Christological understanding of the Psalm.

Such is, for example, prior to the late antique theologian Cassiodorus. It should be noted that the tradition of Jesus Christ freely viewed from sins and he, therefore, when he as in Psalm 39 speak of his sins, he ( the Christians ) do the representative of the " members of his body ."
