Psalm 59

The 59th Psalm is a Psalm of David, and was to the tune of "Do not Perish! " sung (Ps. 59.1 SLT). This melody is also in Psalm 57 (Ps 57.1 SLT), Psalm 58 (Ps 58.1 SLT) and Psalm 75 (Ps 75.1 SLT) used.

Dating

Many interpreters believe that this Psalm has arisen in the period from 1 Sam 19.11-17 SLT.

Interpretation

The mentioned in Ps 59.7 to 14 SLT situation is addressed in Ps 59.15 to 18 SLT again. While David is asking for a mess of his enemies in Psalm 59.12 SLT: " let them wander through your power and bring them down ," David says in Psalm 59.16 SLT already on the fulfillment of his request.
