Psalm 69
The 69th Psalm ( Greek- count of 68 ) is a psalm of David in the Bible and one of a series of Lamentations of an individual.
Dating
The psalm can be attributed to the Maccabean period. So it is, already in Psalmenkommenar of Theodore of Mopsuestia from the 5th century:
"This song was written at the time of the Maccabees in prophetic spirit and prayer fits about the people and events just this time. "
This historical background is the desecration of the temple connected with the destruction of Jerusalem and the serving of a blood bath. In addition, the Psalm has relationship with other psalms of this period.
