Pschyrembel Klinisches Wörterbuch

Pschyrembel is a brand of medical reference books of the publishing house De Gruyter, Berlin. The name comes from Willibald Pschyrembel who has long cared for the Clinical dictionary of the publisher. This dictionary is an alphabetical list of the most common and most important concepts of medicine, coordinating for multiple use and at the same time the medical language known making and externally. In German-speaking Pschyrembel gained a meaning for the medicine as it has the dictionary for the language.

Pschyrembel Clinical Dictionary

The history of Pschyrembel began with the dictionary of the clinical art expressions of the physician Otto Dornblüth, the 1894 Publisher Veit & Comp., Leipzig, first appeared. This publisher is one of the five founding publishers of the publishing house De Gruyter, which publishes the Pschyrembel since then. Clinical titled as Pschyrembel Dictionary 2014 - - The current 265th edition was published in June 2013; they replaced the 264th edition of September 2012.

It has its name standard medical work to the Berlin physician and university professor Willibald Pschyrembel (1901-1987) to thank for that was until 1982 the sole editor and author of the work from 1931.

In addition to the printed book version a ( paid ) online version and versions for PDA and Pocket PC are available, also apps for iPhone and iPod Touch.

A curiosity of the Pschyrembel is the fictitious article about the invented by Loriot Steinlaus: Initially, a joke of the editorial in the 255th edition, which removed him again in the 257th edition and started again after many requests from readers of the 258th edition, there is an entry today a large fan base and even got a private weblog.
