The Psel (Ukrainian Псел; Russian Псёл ( Psel ) ) is a left tributary of the Dnieper River with a length of 717 km and a catchment area of ​​22,800 km ². It rises in the south-eastern foothills of the central Russian country back on Russian territory. From there it flows in the upper reaches initially in a westerly direction. In the middle reaches, he changed beneath the city of Sumy its flow direction to the southwest, where he deep cuts into the Poltava plateau.
