Pseudohalogen

Pseudohalogens are a special case of pseudo-elements. The pseudohalogens you count among other groups:

The chemical properties of these pseudo- halogens are similar in many areas where the halogens:

  • Analogously to the elemental halogens exist mostly dimers of the pseudohalogens, for example, cyanogen (NC -CN).
  • There are pseudo- hydrogen halide acids of the type HX ( with X as pseudo-halide ): HCN ( hydrogen cyanide )
  • HNCO ( isocyanic acid )
  • HCNO ( bang acid)
  • HNCS ( isothiocyanic )
  • HN3 ( hydrazoic acid )
