Pseudorandom binary sequence
The Pseudo Random Binary Sequence (PRBS ) is a binary signal which is approximated by white noise, the spectrum generated by a deterministic random generator.
The pseudo - random bit stream may (typically ) take on the values 1 and -1. It is used as an alternative to white noise. An advantage here is the reproducibility of the signal. It is used in communications technology for code division multiple access, spread-spectrum, encryption and verification of communication channels and in control theory for analysis of impulse response using Maximum Length Sequence.
A PRBS can be generated with a linear feedback shift register.
