PSO J318.5-22
PSO J318.5 -22 is an exoplanet orbiting no star, a so-called cosmic vagabond. Its mass is about 6 times larger than that of Jupiter. The planet belongs to the Beta Pictoris group and is about 80 light-years away from Earth. The age of the gas giant is estimated at 12 million years. Since its measured values are not hindered by an all dominating central star, which scientists hope for brand new information about the origin and evolution of Jupiter-like planets in general and planetary rovers in particular.
The planet was discovered in 2013 at coordinates 21h 14m 8s ( RA ) and 22 ° 51 ' 36 "( declination ) using the Pan- STARRS telescope.
