Psoriasis Area and Severity Index

The PASI score is an index for determining the severity of psoriatic disease. The abbreviation stands for PASI Psoriasis Area and Severity Index, the index describes the extent of the disease and describes the severity based on the redness and thickness of plaques and scaling.

The maximum PASI score can reach 72 points in very severe disease. There are patients differed with mild, moderate and severe disease, with no uniform criteria exist that allow the distinction between moderate and severe.

A moderate to severe disease is present if the PASI is at least 10. The severity of psoriasis can also be defined solely by the affected body surface. It is considered to be moderate to severe disease when are concerned about ten percent of the body surface.
