Psychoneuroendocrinology

The Psycho Euro Endocrinology examines the interrelationships between behavior and experience on the one hand and endocrine functions on the other.

There are several neighboring disciplines, that overlap partially in their research:

• Endocrinology is the study of hormones.
• Neuroendocrinology deals with the relationships between the endocrine system and the nervous system
• Psycho € Immunology deals with the relationship of psyche, nervous system and immune system.
• Neuropsychology is concerned with the variation of physiological processes in the central nervous system and its effects on mental processes.

Research

The PNE is a relatively young discipline, as the science of psychology as a whole. The target direction is the study of mental and neurological disorders. These researches are still in the stage of basic research.

Physiological results

About the pituitary- hypothalamic interface can affect the endocrine system, central circuits. Conversely, hormones act on these neuronal circuits and influence emotions, cognition and behavior.
