Psyren

Psyren (Japanese PSYЯEN -サイレン- ) is a manga series of the Japanese manga illustrator Toshiaki Iwashiro. She appeared from 2007 to 2010 in Japan and is classified in the genres romance, action and shōnen.

Content

The cheeky and boisterous high school students Ageha Yoshina (夜 科 アゲハ) finds a cell phone and a calling card with the inscription Psyren. Then mentions his classmate Sakurako Amamiya (雨 宫 桜 子), which he has known since early childhood, Psyren and disappears shortly thereafter. Ageha uses the mobile phone and the card and is intended primarily to solve some puzzles. Finally, it is pulled into a strange world. This world, called Psyren, is inhabited by insect-like monsters wasteland, are expected to satisfy the Ageha and other tasks in order to return home to. Finally, he will also find Sakurako and three more from his world: Hiryu Asaga, Oboro Mochizuki and Kabuto Kirisaki. Since they all have proven themselves in the tasks assigned to them, they should be trained for other tasks.

Publications

The manga was published from December 2007 to November 2010 in the manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from the publisher Shueisha. The chapters were also published in 16 anthologies. The last volume sold in Japan over 65,000 times.

The series came out in English in Viz Media in North America and Madman Entertainment in Australia and New Zealand. In French it appeared at Cana, which also published a Dutch translation. In Chinese, the manga was published by Tong Li in Taiwan. Egmont Manga and Anime released a German version since April 2012 with twelve volumes to date.

With the 13th volume of the manga, a light novel was released in Japan with the title Psyren Another Call1, written by SOW. A second light novel came out with Volume 16.
