Ptahhotep

Ptahhotep, Ptah - hotep also, was an Egyptian vizier and city administrator, who lived towards the end of the Old Kingdom and Isesi, the penultimate Pharaoh of the 5th Dynasty, officiated.

Importance

He was in later times Author of 37 maxims, which are considered the oldest complete wisdom and teaching him the nickname brought in the way. A copy of this maxim of Ptahhotep, the Papyrus Prisse, is located in the Louvre in Paris. However, the teaching in the surviving texts dating from the Middle Kingdom.

Reception

Elisabeth Haich describes the mystical- biographical novel The inauguration of the spiritual teachings of ancient Egypt from the perspective of the daughter of Pharaoh. Ptahhotep is uncle and spiritual teacher of the protagonist.
