Public Land Mobile Network

As a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN; German: Public Land Mobile Network ) refers to public mobile networks that are land-based, not satellite-based (English Mobile Satellite Systems ) such as Iridium and Globalstar. In addition, the fixed network exists, even PSTN ( Public Switched Telephone Network engl. ) called.

In the context of roaming is referred to VPLMN V ( isited ) PLMN ( or shortly VP) and H ( ome ) PLMN (or short HP ), where Visited referred to the provider in its network, phoning and Home says the seller, in which the used SIM card is registered.

Identification

Each PLMN is identified by a globally unique identifier that is composed of the components of MCC ( three-digit Mobile Country Code ) and MNC (two-digit or three-digit Mobile Network Code ). This PLMN identifier is sometimes also referred to as short PLMN.
