Publius Cornelius Scipio (consul 16 BC)

Publius Cornelius Scipio was a Roman Senator during the time of Augustus.

Its origin is reconstructed differently in research. Maybe he was the son of Scribonia, the temporary wife of Augustus, from her marriage with a Cornelius, whose identity is also not entirely clear; possibly it was Publius Cornelius, Suffektkonsul in the year 35 BC Other scholars identify the son of Publius Cornelius Lentulus Scribonias but with Marcellinus (consul 18 BC). In 16 BC, Publius Cornelius Scipio was ordinary consul, Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, together with. Later, maybe 8/7 BC, he was proconsul of the province of Asia. Then is it nothing more is known.

Scipio probably had at least two sons, one of whom n around the year 2 BC is occupied as a quaestor in the province of Achaia, the other was 2 BC involved in the scandal to Augustus ' daughter Julia. A possible daughter is the wife of Suffektkonsuls of the year 3 AD, Lucius Volusius.
