Pudicitia

Pudicitia (Latin ), the modesty; as the personification shown on Roman coins as a modest wrapped in her robe matrona or as a woman who has to wear the veil in the term. Her statue could only be touched by a univira, a once married woman.

In Rome there was a temple of Pudicitia patricia and another of Pudicitia plebeia. According to Livy, the cult of the latter was established, the battle in the Senate when it came to whether a married woman with a plebeian patrician family should continue to participate in the cult.
