Puez-Geisler Nature Park

The Puez- Geisler (Italian: Parco naturale Puez Odle, grödnisch - Ladin Parch naturel Puez Odles, gadertalisch - Ladin Parch natural Pöz - Odles ) is a regional park in the Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy.

The 1977 established nature park was expanded in 1999 and now comprises 10,196 acres. The nature park is located on areas of the parishes of St. Martin in Thurn, Abbey, Corvara in Val Badia, Selva, S. Cristina, Ortisei and Val di Funes.

The nature park is bounded on the north by the Passo delle Erbe, in the south of the Gardena Pass. To the east extends the area to the Val Badia, west to the Rasciesa between the Villnößer and the Val Gardena

Mountains

Nature Park include the Geisler group of up to 3,000 meters high peaks ( Sass Rigais, Furchetta ), the Peitlerkofelgruppe with the Peitlerkofel that thePuez with the Gardenazza plateau, the Sassongher and stevia. The Rasciesa heard in the west to the nature reserve, but it is by a narrow zone area ( Broglesalm, Panascharte and Seceda ) separately.

Geology

The Nature Park is geologically very interesting because all typical of the dolomite layers occur, such as Bozen quartz porphyry, Val Gardena Formation, Bellerophonschichten, Werfen strata, limestone, sarl dolomite, Buchsteiner layers, Wengen and Cassian layers Schlern dolomite, Raibler layers, Dachstein dolomite and Jurassic and Cretaceous rocks.

Mountain lakes

Lakes in the area are the Lech Lech da de Crespeina and Iman.

Visitor center

In Villnößer district of St. Magdalena in 2009 with the " Nature Park House Puez " (location: ⊙ 46.64239911.7113 ) was a visitor center with a walk-on aerial, the exhibition area " touching mountains", are shown in the rock types and layers opened.
