Puffleg

The wool pants, also known as hummingbirds or snow panties panties, small hummingbirds of the genera Eriocnemis and Haplophaedia that are native to the Andean regions of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and Argentina. Their habitat is tropical and subtropical mountain and cloud forests and grasslands at altitudes of 1500-4500 m above sea level. The male of the species Eriocnemis have a colorful iridescent plumage. Your most distinctive feature are dense, white dunige plumes on the legs, which give the impression of wool panties. In one type - the black panties - are the spring, however, black panties. Other common features of all Eriocnemis styles are the gold-green back feathers and forked tail.

1918 Eugène Simon created the genus Haplophaedia and classified three of the species originally associated Eriocnemis hummingbird species in the new genus. In the spring Haplophaedia panties are inconspicuous and the plumage is duller colored than Eriocnemis.

Status

The Black Belly panties Hummingbird, the Isabella Snow pants and blue belly panties Hummingbird are threatened with extinction. The Turquoise -throated Hummingbird panties is probably extinct. The black panties and gold belly - wool pants are a result of habitat loss shortly before the threat. The remaining species are not endangered.
