Pugny-Chatenod
Pugny - Chatenod is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.
Geography
Pugny - Chatenod is located on 620 m above sea level. M., near Aix -les- Bains, about 15 km north of the town of Chambery (air line). The village is located in the northwest of the department of Savoie, on the western edge of the massif of the Wallows and at the foot of Mont Revard, a scenic location about 380 m above the lake level of Lake Bourget.
The area of 5.36 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the foothills. The western part of the municipality is occupied by gently against Aix -les- Bains sloping hillside of Pugny - Chatenod. The area is drained by the village brook west to Sierre and thus to the Lac du Bourget. Above the village, the wooded steep slopes of Mont Revard follows, which is characterized by its distinctive low vertical rock walls. On the high plateau of Mont Revard is with 1537 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Pugny - Chatenod.
To Pugny - Chatenod addition to the actual center also includes several hamlets settlements and farmsteads, including:
- Les Barral (530 m above sea level. M. ) on the hillside below the village
- Les Bollons (710 m above sea level. M. ) on the slopes of Mont Revard
Neighboring communities of Pugny - Chatenod are Grésy -sur -Aix and Trévignin in the north, Les Deserts to the east, Mouxy in the south and Aix -les- Bains in the West.
History
Since the Middle Ages belonged Pugny - Chatenod under the jurisdiction of Aix.
Attractions
The village church of Pugny - Chatenod was built in the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style.
Population
With 975 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Pugny - Chatenod one of the small communities of the department of Savoie. After the population was declining in the first half of the 20th century, a striking increase in population was recorded since the early 1970s thanks to the attractive residential area again. Since then, the population has nearly quadrupled.
Economy and infrastructure
Pugny - Chatenod was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. In addition, there are now several companies of local small businesses. Meanwhile, the village has developed into the residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the area, particularly in the area of Aix -les- Bains and Chambery their work.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares. Access to the village is from Aix -les- Bains via Mouxy or Grésy -sur -Aix via Trévignin. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of about 8 km.
