Pujehun District

Pujehun is a district of Sierra Leone with about 228,000 inhabitants. It belongs to the province of Southern and lies in the extreme south of the country, on the Atlantic coast and the border with Liberia. Its capital is Pujehun, more cities are Bomi Foindu, Gandorhun and Potoru. The district is divided into 12 chiefdoms ( chiefdoms ).

Pujehun covers an area of ​​4105 km ². In the area of the district are the Mape, Mabesi and Masatoi Lake.

The inhabitants of the Pujehun District belong to the ethnic groups of the Mende, Vai, Temne and Sherbro Bullom - and are mostly Muslims. The economy is in diamond mining, fisheries, coffee and cocoa plantations.
