Pukekohe

Pukekohe is a town in New Zealand with 21,500 inhabitants (as of 30 June 2005). It lies on the North Island of the country in the Auckland region between Manukau Harbour and the mouth of the Waikato River approximately 50 kilometers south of Auckland city.

The city, founded in the 1860s, the rural administrative and economic center of the Franklin District. Predominant industries are horticulture and dairy farming.

The name " puke - kohe " comes from the people living there Māori and means " hill of Kohekohe ". The city itself has a high school and a rugby stadium. It will be carried out horse racing and motor sports events.
