Pulaski County (Illinois)

The Pulaski County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the County had 6161 inhabitants and a population density of 11.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Mound City.

Geography

The County is located in southern Illinois, on the border with Kentucky, where the boundary line through the Ohio River is determined. It has an area of 527 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface. At the Pulaski County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Pulaski County was formed on March 3, 1843 from parts of Alexander County and Johnson County. It was named after General Casimir Pulaski, a Polish exiles, who was killed during the Revolution in an attack on Savannah in 1779.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2010 lived in Pulaski County 6161 people in 2529 households. The population density was 11.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 2529 households lived statistically 2.44 per person.
