Pulmonary contusion

The pulmonary contusion (Eng. lung contusion ) is a complication of thoracic trauma. The lung as a result of force is squeezed to the chest, which usually has diffuse bleeding into the lung parenchyma result. By so resulting reduced perfusion of the alveoli increases the functional dead space, so that the affected tissue no longer participates in gas exchange.

The pulmonary contusion attracts so often pulmonary edema after and can be left untreated lethal.
