Pulmonology
Pneumology (also pulmonology; Greek πνεύμων Pneumon " lung" ) or Pulmonology ( also Pulmonology; Latin pulmo, " the lung ") is a branch of internal medicine that deals with lung disease. The German name is pulmonary medicine.
The pneumology includes the prevention, diagnosis and conservative treatment of diseases of the lungs, the bronchi, the mediastinum ( mediastinal ) and the pleura.
The thoracic surgery as part of the surgery, the radiation therapy of lung tumors as part of radiotherapy and chemotherapy of lung tumors as part of the oncology do not belong directly to the pneumology.
