Punch-down block

A terminal strip is used in cabinets to connect cables / lines. It is the interface from the control cabinet to the outside world. In the control panel, the terminal strip is usually located near the cable entry.

A terminal block consists of individual terminals, which are mounted and strung on a DIN rail ( top hat rail). The assembly on the DIN rail distinguishes them from dirt terminals such as spring - or screw-type terminals. The terminal block has its own resource identification, usually with the letters X, and appears in the Kabelzugplan or wiring diagram in the circuit diagram.
