Punctation of Olmütz

The Olomouc punctuation ( or the " Olomouc Agreement") was a diplomatic agreement, which was concluded on November 29, 1850 between Prussia, Austria and Russia on the end of the Austro-Prussian conflict of 1848/1850 due to the Union's policy of Prussia. The conferences of the representatives of the three powers were held until 30 November 1850 in Olomouc in Moravia of 28.

A conflict between the Hessian Elector and his subjects took the Austrian chancellor Prince Felix zu Schwarzenberg as an opportunity to isolate Prussia on. Already on 8 November 1850, there was a skirmish between Austria related Bavarian and Prussian army at Bronnzell, near Fulda, come, but in which there was only a trumpeter mold on the court. Prussia then decided to relent.

In this Punktation Prussia renounced the claim to be the German state. At the same time, the German Confederation, which was badly damaged by the revolutions of 1848, was restored under the direction of Austria. Since Prussia significantly lost by the Agreement on reputation, it ultimately contributed to further intensification of the contradiction between Prussia and Austria. Prussian nationalists spoke of the " Olomouc humiliation."
